a thought about superhero costumes

jumpingjacktrash:

so we all know that female superheroes show skin because fanboys are horndogs, not because it’s actually practical.

but… do we really know that? or do we just assume it?

personally, as a not very attractive middle aged man, if i were bulletproof, and i were fighting crime, i’d probably wear shorts and a tank top, because fabric is just going to get in the way and get messed up. it’s not like it affords me any protection. i mean, look how often luke cage’s shirt gets ripped off. he should probably just keep one of those cheap hanes t-shirts in his back pocket and only put it on to go into stores and restaurants, he’d waste less clothes that way.

the more i think about it, the more i think the problem isn’t that female heroes show too much skin, it’s that male heroes don’t show enough.

i vote we leave the girls’ outfits as-is, and put the boys in booty shorts.
